In a video that went viral on Thursday, 30 July 2026, the young woman looked straight into the camera and spoke her mind. She said: “Any man above 35 years old that does not have a house is a useless man. Yes, what have you been doing all your life? Hustling, making money, trying to build your life. What life? At what age? 35? Do you want to build a house when you get old? Hmm? Broke ass.”
Popular Nigerian pages like YabaLeftOnline and Linda Ikeji Blog shared the clip the same day. It quickly spread across X (Twitter) and other platforms, pulling in thousands of views, likes, comments and arguments.Watch Video Here
Many people hit back hard. They said her words were too harsh and did not match the reality of life in Nigeria today. High cost of living, inflation, low salaries and the difficulty of saving enough money make buying or building a house very hard for many people even in their 40s.
One user wrote that parents should train their daughters better so they do not call men “useless” when the only property some of them control is their phone. Another pointed out that plenty of successful men with good businesses still live in rented apartments. Some asked whether her own father or brothers owned houses by age 35.
Others saw double standards. “Man and woman are born the same way but a man without a house at certain age is useless but a woman at that same age without a house is a baby girl,” one commenter said.
