A man has been arrested in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State after he allegedly threw his two young children from a three-storey building and tried to throw his wife as well.
The incident happened on Thursday, 30 July 2026, along Opobo Road in Umuobe, near Barracks Junction, in Obingwa LGA of Abia State.Watch Video Here
According to eyewitnesses, a serious quarrel broke out inside the family’s apartment on the top floor of the building. In the heat of the argument, the man allegedly grabbed his two children and threw them from the balcony or upper floor onto the ground below. He then tried to push his wife over as she cried for help. During the struggle, or while neighbours rushed in, the man himself fell from the building.
Residents found him lying unconscious but still breathing in front of the house, with a head injury. The two children were quickly rushed to a hospital. Reports confirm that both children survived the fall, though full details of their condition have not been released yet.
Police officers arrived at the scene around 6:22 p.m. By about 6:32 p.m., they took the man into custody after he reportedly resisted arrest. He was moved away for treatment and investigation. The exact reason for the attack is still not clear.
The story has shocked many people on social media. On X (Twitter), users expressed deep sadness and anger. One person asked if the man was drunk or under the influence of something, saying frustration must have pushed him to such an act. Another simply wrote “Nawao” and called for him to face the law properly.
